MISSION STATEMENT: Our mission is to provide a structured, nurturing environment that allows each student to grow spiritually, academically, emotionally, and physically. As educators, we accept the challenge of our ministry to model Catholic morals, values, and traditions. Our focus on faith formation and academic excellence prepares the students to be life-long learners who will work to better the world through on-going service.

WE ARE CATHOLIC:

  • Faith Families: Communities made up of students from preschool-8th grade.

  • Virtue Based Restorative Discipline Certified School

  • Sacraments: Students in 2nd grade have the opportunity to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion. All 8th graders have the opportunity to receive Confirmation.

  • Religious Education: Students are educated in the Catholic Faith, attend Mass and have various opportunities to serve as ministers of our faith such as: servers, cantors, lectors, and Eucharistic Ministers.

 

BASIC INFORMATION:

  • Grade Levels: preschool (part & full time) through 8th grade

  • School Hours: 7:55 am-2:50 pm

  • Extended Care: 2:50 pm -6 pm

  • School Colors: royal blue and white

  • School Mascot: Hector the Trojan

  • Student to Teacher Ratio: 22/1

  • Lunch: provided by Mad River, free breakfast and free or reduced lunch program available

  • Transportation: Busing is provided in most cases to residents of Beavercreek, Dayton, Fairborn

  • Attendance Area: Beavercreek, Mad River, Dayton, Fairborn, Kettering, Huber Heights

 

FACILITY/TECHNOLOGY:

  • Clevertouch in all classrooms, K through 8th grade one-to-one Chromebook ratio, laptop cart and tablet cart available for use in individual classrooms, Learning Lab with 24 computers, music room, art room, gym/cafeteria, and playground equipment

 

FACULTY/STAFF:

  • All classroom teachers are state licensed by the Ohio Department of Education.

  • Teachers: 18 K-8 full-time teachers, 2 preschool teachers and 2 preschool aides

  • In addition: Art, Computer, Library, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish Teacher along with a Licensed School Nurse

  • State-Funded Auxiliary Support Staff: Intervention Tutor, 2 Counselors, Speech Therapist, Family Advocate, and Title 1

 

STUDENTS

  • 2022-2023 Preschool -8th enrollment: 411

  • 61% Catholic, & 39% non-Catholic

 

CURRICULUM: Areas of study are based on standards from the State of Ohio and determined by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to include Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Art, Computer Skills, Music and Physical Education

 

TESTING: Standardized testing grades 3-8, ACRE Religion Test grades 5 & 8, Iowa grades 2-7

 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS:  Accelerated Mathematics, Carroll High School Math, Intro to Spanish Grades Preschool through 3rd, One Semester of Spanish per year for Grades 4-8, Title I

 

ANNUAL EVENTS: Grandparents’ Day, Spelling Bee, Science Fair, Art & Talent Show, Everybody Counts Week, Open House, Catholic Schools Week, Club Week, Field Day, Trojan Trot, Book Fair, St. Helen Night at the Dayton Dragons Game, various field trips and other enrichment opportunities

 

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Students are invited to participate in a number of activities including SAY and CYO sports (soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field), scouts, choir, band and more.

 

FINANCIAL AID: Financial Aid is available to families who qualify. Parish Families may apply using the FACTS Financial Aid process. St Helen also participates in The EdChoice Scholarship Program.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT: Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), Booster Club, and various volunteer opportunities
